Those of you who are familiar with Tony Robbins knows the importance he places on having a healthy body as part of having an extraordinary life. This simple Tony Robbins breathing exercise will do wonders for the way you feel and is based on Tony Robbins' intensive study on human health and effects of our bodies on the state of mind we are in.

In Get The Edge, Anthony Robbins makes is abundantly clear that having an extraordinary life means having an extraordinary psychology (state your mind and body is in). Your psychology consists of two interlinked aspects (a) Your mental Focus and (b) Your Physiology, or the way you use your body.

The Tony Robbins breathing exercise can be used as a tool to instantly change your physiology and consequently your state. Apart from that, as you will learn in Tony Robbins's Living Health System, this breathing exercise forms a vital part of maintaining the health of your body. Your entire body is only as healthy as the cells that make it up. Oxygen is THE MOST IMPORTANT element of the life of your cells and studies have shown how depriving healthy cells from oxygen can lead them to becoming malignant and cancerous. Fully oxygenating your system is the key to healthy cells and breathing deeply is essential.

Apart from oxygenating your system, deep diaphragmatic breaths also help to stimulate movement of lymph through your body. Every cell in your body is surrounded by lymph fluid that acts like a cleansing system for your body by removing toxins, excess fluids and dead cells. Unlike your blood system which has got a pump, your lymph relies largely on your deep breathing to move lymph around and clean your system. Deep breathing can excel the body's cleansing pace by as much as 15 times the normal pace.

 

The most effective way to breathe: (to cleanse & oxygenate your system)

You should breathe in the following ratio 1:4:2  (Inhale through your nose; exhale through your mouth.)

= Inhale for 1 count
= Hold for 4 counts
= Exhale for 2 counts

If you inhale for 3 seconds, you would hold for 12 seconds and exhale for 6 seconds. You exhale twice as long as you inhale because that is when you eliminate toxins from your body via the lymphatic system. When you hold you can fully oxygenate your system and allow oxygen exchange.

You must stop and take at least 10 deep breaths at least 3 times a day.

When you breathe imagine your diaphragm to be like an elastic that you have to pull deep into your abdomen – like a vacuum cleaner it sucks the lymph through the body.

Notice as you do this how you can feel the circulation go through your body. Notice that feeling where it feels like your "head clears up". It is very important to start small and NOT TO STRAIN YOURSELF. Build up your lung capacity and as you build this you will be able to handle more oxygen. If you do this 3 times a day your energy will explode! More oxygen to your cells, means higher activity and the more healthy they are.
