It is not what we do once in a while that matters, but our consistent actions that determine our ultimate successes and failures. If we are pursuing any result in our life then what we really want is consistent results. Anyone can produce any result once in a while, but people who produce extraordinary results on a consistent basis are the people we aspire to, the people we call a success.

In order to have consistency we need to take control of our habits, especially our mental habits of thought. By developing positive and empowering habitual patterns of thought we can maximize the impact we have on ourselves and on others. In his powerful book As a Man Thinketh, James Allen conveys the simple yet powerful idea that we are who and what we are by the nature of our (consistent) thoughts.

We all have habitual patterns of thought – we have specific, mostly unconscious, patterns and sequences of triggering and playing off certain thoughts, feelings and emotions. What you focus on at any moment in time will to a great extent determine the way you feel and what you will and will not do. If you consistently experience negative emotions then you simply focus on whatever makes you feel those emotions/feelings.

The 10 Day Mental Diet is a strategy that Tony Robbins adapted from Emmet Fox's 1935 The Seven Day Mental Diet, designed to install new habits of thought that empowers you. The mental diet is like a "mental detox" that cleanses your mind of negative and destructive patterns of thought and feelings you unconsciously dwell on. The quality of your life equals the quality of the emotions you live in on a consistent basis and by installing new empowering habits of thought we can radically transform the quality of our lives.

The 10 day mental diet will help to sensitize you to your unconscious thoughts and thought patterns that play such a big role in the way you feel. Becoming aware of your habitual patterns of thought in itself can be curative as the mental diet will help you to become sensitive to the content of your mind.

The goal of the mental diet is not to teach you to ignore problems but to develop the (habitual) ability to put yourself in a mental and emotional state of mind that is resourceful and empowering where you can come up with solutions and act on them. While you are on the mental diet you will consciously install the pattern of letting your mind search for empowering alternatives. You will develop an incredible sense of confidence as you do this and see how you can control your feelings and emotions and that you are indeed in control of your life.

 

10 day mental diet im03. The 10 Day Mental Diet: Here's how you do it...

10 day mental diet a01. For the next 10 consecutive days you are not allowed to dwell on any negative and unresourceful  thoughts or feelings.
You are not allowed to entertain any of these negative thoughts for more than a minute. It doesn't mean you won't have negative thoughts or feelings, BUT it means that you are not allowed to keep them in your mind.

10 day mental diet a01. Although you will have negative thoughts, you are not allowed to speak it.
As soon as one of these negatives show up just change immediately by using questions to direct your focus.

10 day mental diet a01. As soon as you have a negative thought you must reverse it in your mind immediately. Without speaking it say to yourself: "erase, what I really mean is…"(something positive and empowering).

10 day mental diet a01. For the next 10 days the whole focus of your life will be on solutions and not problems; on what is right in your life instead of what's wrong.
At any point in time there is so much going on around us that we delete most of what happens around us. What's wrong is always available, BUT so is what is right. The way you feel is based on the control of your mental focus. Whatever you focus on will determine how you feel.

10 day mental diet a01. If you don't and break the 1 minute rule then you must start over the following day.
You must go 10 consecutive days without holding or entertaining any unresourceful or negative thought, feeling or emotion.

 

The Mental Diet will...

With the mental diet you will be aware of your own patterns of thought and learn ways to interrupt it before you complete it and experience a series of emotions caused by your negative pattern of thinking. Our habitual patterns of thought are like the grooves on a record that produce a certain result (sound) if played. By interrupting our patterns (grooves) we literally scratch the record so that the pattern won't play anymore.

By spending 10 consecutive days on searching for what's right and good and by focusing on solutions you install a very powerful habit that will empower your automatic response to every situation in life to be resourceful and empowering. Form good habits and make them your master!!
